This program looks at the work of two premier hyper realists who came to prominence in the early 70's. Duane Hanson, whose work is seen at a large 1999 retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art, makes evocative, realistic work based on casts of ordinary people involved in ordinary, everyday activities.
John DeAndrea makes masterful, life like replicas of nude female figures. In a 1997 exhibItion at the OK Harris Gallery, we see an extraordinary show of models cast in polyester resin. Interviews are with Ivan Karp, director and owner of the OK Harris Gallery and a long time champion of Hyper Realism and art critic/poet John Yau.
